A dual tuner card would be nice indeed! Can you get the digital cable signals? I was doing some reading and some people say that some cable companies "scramble" the digital signal and it can only be clearly received if you get a cable box from them, so only analog signals can be picked up ...

I almost forgot about this thread  I was just thinking about this again this morning. So what kind of card should I look at for use with eastlink's standard digital cable box? What kind of software do you guys use? Any suggestions for good reading? The PVR is costing us $15 a month, which isn'...

I know some of you have htpc setups. Its something I've never really looked into. I have a laptop with hdmi for playing and streaming movies. But I am wondering if those of you on eastlink are able to get any extra tv benefits? Can you get hd content for "free" - meaning with basic digital...

They were indeed using telus for their newsgroups. Here is the response I got from them via email: Thank you for your recent inquiry. We appreciate the opportunity to respond. The domain name news.eastlink.ca routes to Telus' newsgroup service, which EastLink used to use for providing newsgroup serv...

Does eastlink still have newsgroup servers? I haven't checked any newsgroups in a while. I went to check them a couple of days ago and got a message that it couldn't connect. I thought maybe the servers were down, but its till doing it today. Anyone know if they still have newsgroup servers or if th...

well i applied it to the base and scraped off the access so that the groves were filled then applied to the cpu as you would any other. Keep in mind my cpu has been lapped so i didnt need much on it. Good idea dean! Now in applying to the cpu, did you spread it yourself or use a blob/rice grain met...

I had to exchange my first one - the pin placement was off on top of the base of the heatsink. I could not get the pin to fit in one of the notches of the bracket. I exchanged it at MB and no problem, bracket and pin lined right up the first time. Boy was I frustrated last night  just out of cu...

I've been doing a lot of research lately for my build. I was always looking for "the best bang for the buck". When researching heatsinks I found that the direct contact ones had the best cost to benefit rating, and did well at controlling temps. I asked Mysterybyte to order in the Coolerma...

Maybe I should order mine now before they are all sold out ;) I've been doing some reading about heatsinks, there's been some people who have had just as much luck with a direct contact heatsink like the coolermaster hyper 212+ as they have had with the v8 and h50. The hyper 212 is certainly a lot l...

Thank you very much, I may take you up on that offer. I've noticed your sig, you've got your 965 running at 4Ghz. Is that with the V8? The V8 is massive! I'd be worried anytime I move my case that the motherboard might snap from the weight of it  Maybe I might spend the extra quid and get the H...

You are probably better off going with an ATI card from the get go. The later picking up a 2nd for xfire. I thought about that, but in my price range (unless income tax return is good) I'd have to get a 5770, and the gtx260 performs better on average in games than the 5770. If I could find a used 1...

I'm finally going to do my first build. I've pretty much had a whole computer apart, other than replacing the processor, but I've never done a build. I'm looking forward to it! Here's where I'm leaning, going within my budget for now (some parts used), but with lots of room to upgrade in the future ...
