So dads laptop had windows Vista installed on it. He Didn't like it, felt it ran much to slow, which I can agree with, the laptop only has 512mbs of RAM. So he asked me to install windows XP on it. So I Got the WIndows XP disc, and went about the reqular, wipe the drive, format as NTFS, and then install windows... only everytime after windows installs, it goes to the windows loading screen, the bar will go across one or two times, then it just goes into a BSoD. And it does this after everytime the laptp is restarted. I've tried everything that I know, and just cant figure it out. I have even used the Ultimate Boot CD utilities, to wipe the drives, and diagnose things, but to no avail. Any Ideas guys?

most laptops built recently arent backwards compatible. meaning they do not have any driver viable for xp.

XP Driver issue by the sounds of it. Check the manufacturers website and see if they have a recommend driver otherwise you might have to hit up forums else were to satisfy.

Well, I messed with it for a bit more, did the fxmbr and chkdsk suggestions, still no dice. Finially I borrowed another XP disc from a buddy, and that disc worked fine... so looks like my disc is bad. :? Oh well, laptop is working better then ever now, thanks for the help guys :)

Yeah I've had problems with "Pro Corp" discs in the past. Seems pretty random though.

I am reminded of the picture with the pirated pro corp copy with 100 days to go, but I am at a loss to actually find it...oh well.

This would be a more appropriate clock if using Vista :P
