Makes all Raptors look foolish! But freaking pricey though!

Those raptors and Velociraptors look crazy fast. For the new PC i'm building I was toying with the idea of using one as the OS drive and having a 1TB drive for data.

I assume this would this make of a difference in Photo & Video editing, but is it much of a difference?

I would be playing games on this PC as well.

For Photoshop it will only effect the programs load time and how quickly photos are saved. Once it's open, along with your photos, everything is stored in your RAM to speed things up. If Photoshop needs more space than what you have for RAM than I'd suggest more RAM rather than a faster hard drive as it becomes a dog when accessing the hard drive... I would know after working with some 300 Meg photos in Photoshop about 8 years ago at work.

As for video editing, yes it would benefit a lot from a faster hard drive but you suggested you would be using the Raptor for your OS and not for your data. For video editing to take advantage of it you would have to do the opposite and have the fast drive as your temporary video editing drive. Since the Raptors are smaller you would have to move videos off of it when you were done so that drive would basically only be a work area for you.

if it's that serious a system then several of the 300GB raptors won't be an issue with the amount of cash being thrown out all over that place for the other parts.

The heatsinks on those bad boys are intense! Do they give off that much heat, or are they just to make the 2.5" fit a 3.5" mount.
