![]() Notice how all the manufacture dates are the same, and the top 3 drives were bought 3 months after the bottom one. As well the S/N#'s are 778, 833, 1043 and 1111, so they haven't made nor sold many of these units. The 2405 had the 16116 firmware, had to update to 16501. |

Going to do single, 2,3,4 raid 0 hd tach for basic scoring and then some more tests on 4 disk raid 0 for completeness. all cluster sizes are 64k on a 64k stripe. Wish I could compare all 4 at once but oh well... ![]() 1xOCZ mobo (blue) vs 2405 (red) ![]() 2 vs 1 ![]() 3 vs 2 ![]() 4 vs 3 Hrm, seems to have hit a bottleneck, I'll have to try and upgrade the firmware, somehow. Skiman you got any idea heh. (win98 boot disk + burnt files on a CD I guess, just need to find a floppy hah) Well I can't seem to get the management software to work (and cannot update the firmware yet). |

Starting with ATTO, 32MB and 256MB I like how the 128MB cache on the raid controller boosts the numbers, you just can't get that with onboard anything. ![]() ![]() The bars on the right may appear bigger but the scale on the left is 4x larger ![]() ![]() HD Tune, numbers! ![]() Everest, more numbers! I guess it's up to Skiman to throw some competing numbers up there! |

ATTO - On the 32K length we see the numbers converge at 64k transfer size with your four disks increasing...but not by much. Your four disks in the 256MB length run quickly take the lead above the 2K transfer rate. ![]() ![]() Unfortunately, I cannot find my Everest registration. Here is the run but with [TRIAL] ![]() |

OK, so here's a pic of me trying to "install" the gear. The screwholes don't work with thr HD storage bay so for now they are just sitting on top the of the Raptor, meh. ![]() I was able to upgrade the firmware by installing "legacy equipment" ![]() The only thing the "custom" WinME disk would work properly is an old PATA cdrom cuz of MSCDEX issues. |

BEHOLD MY LEET MSPAINT SKILLZ! OLD vs new, only the firmware and drivers are newer. ![]() OLD = Blue, NEW = Red Looks like they "fixed" the burst speed as well. ![]() OLD = left, NEW = right I don't know what's up with the craptacular reads at above 64k, did it 3 times, once it seems to have given the proper number heh. Overall a good increase in speeds. ![]() Decent increase here as well ![]() Slightly better now ![]() Buffered read went up a bit, random read went down a bit Overall a good increase, Skiman I suggest updating. I unplugged the hard drives and did the flash and plugged the hard drives back in, and the raid still existed. |

Actually I did clean the front fan (and it's filter) out. I put it in backwards though, probably by accident, so it blows out now doah (ah the old suck vs. blow debate). Everyone is a critic ![]() |

Updated Bios with results. Small increases, but keep in mind, my two drives are the primary system drives, with Vista overhead causing a small price. I also think my i7 and bus is a little better performing. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

One thing I gotta say is that raid controller should have had a fan installed on it, it's freaking hot! |

I said that about 1 minute after I installed it, and I did mount a fan on it. |

Since I was able to actually do stuff in windows now with the adaptec card, I was able to do a couple mroe benches. 1024k stripe 4k cluster on left, 1024k stripe 64k cluster right... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Looks like the 1024k stripe is the way to go and kind of a mixed bag between 4k and 64k. BUT I did get my target of over 450MB/s! |
