Just grabbed a new PC for the family. Thought about building one but in the end something good for the family is better to be bought in a store. Where this isn't a custom build I didn't even feel like posting here but we're in need of some forum activity. Nothing spectacular, sad to see the cpu beats my PII 965. Sucks because I'm too much of a fanboy to "build" an intel machine for my main box, yet with bulldozer failing as bad as it is, there's no point in upgrading from my current chip . So I guess we're going to call this my Sandy Bridge *cough* build */cough*. i3 2100k 6gb DDR3 1.5tb hdd Everything else is just manufacturer garbage but I figure it's going to be a fantastic system for basic everyday stuff, and who knows I may even convert it to a gaming rig in time should I run across a cheap graphics card. I'll let yall know how it performs xD |

you are not the only person that's disappointed with AMD. Fail after fail it seems. Bulldozer isnt an upgrade so I am not changing anything out yet either. |

I haven't been upgrading much lately but still I haven't had an AMD CPU since the early A64 (Clawhammer) days and when I go to build again, this fall or early next year at the latest, it will probably be Intel again. I never buy the most expensive CPU's available, so having the fastest chip never really affected my decisions, but it doesn't even seem like they have a very good price-point at the moment for what they are offering. |

Agreed, they definitely struck out this time around. Last gen of AMD chips were at least competitive performance wise and had great price points. Like I said it's sad that even the lowest end Sandy Bridge chip edges out my once "enthusiast" level AMD chip. Disappointing but eye opening. |

yeah they dropped the ball big time with the utter crap that this bulldozer ended up being. Im pretty niffed about the whole bulldozer platform - which equals crap Huge let down for all the fans too. I dont want them to stop making chips as it would help keep intel's prices outta the clouds. |
