Well then, anyone got some decent ideas for a DIY wall mount that won't send my TV thru the floor and into my neighbors living room? I thought the only safe way was with a VESA mount.

From what I've seen with wall mounts most of the expensive ones have features that let you pull the screen out from the wall and tilt it in different directions. Nice features, yes, but if you just want it mounted on the wall directly in front of you then the basic mounts that don't have those features seem fairly cheap. I believe I've seen them for around $39 but that could be for one that only does up to say 27" LCD's.

I wonder how much a piece of steel custom cut for your panel would cost getting done at a machine shop. It seems like something a high school student in shop class could do so it *should* cost much but you never know I guess.

Yeah, those VESA mounts can get expensive. One for my TV will cost 80-100. I did read one DIY guide for making one out of a 2x4 and picture hanging kits (the ones with the metal rails) you bend the rails in the shape of a vesa recepticle.

I'll let ya'll know if I figure something out.

Works well, I have had the system for a few years now and have no complaints.

I just upgraded to Blu-Ray.

1080p is the shit. Makes the movie experience so much better. I was lucky enuff to find an unopened, unused Samsung BD-P1500 for 1/2 of retail, on kijiji.

Next I need to upgrade the Kenwood amp to an HDMI one.

But theres still a few puter related things I got my eye on so that will have to wait :P

5.1 is good for now.

Tekken 6 is coming, I'm guessing a PS3 for me won't be far behind (along with sore thumbs)

Not into the consoles myself. But definately understand the PS3 for those that do.

I did the console thing when turbo grafix16 was all the rage.

when pc games hit that was it for me :P

I was looking at the PS3's for a Bluray player when I finally upgrade, as I've heard they are one of the best upconverting DVD players around and I would also get a console out of it, but the new PS3 Slims are really ugly and still chew up more power watching a movie than I'd like. I read on Gizmodo I believe, that they use 4 times more power than a regular Bluray player for movies and that's down from the 8 times more the regular PS3's uses. A friend of mine who also did this says the PS3 is borderline too loud for watching movies as well, but he's pretty picky like me with this stuff. :)

I was out on Boxing Day at 5:15am and acquired the following:

1) Sony 46" 1080p 120Hz W-Series panel
2) Pioneer 7.1 1080p Upconverting receiver
3) PS3 Slim w/ Infamous and Batman: Arkham Asylum (I bought Prince of Persia earlier for $15 and I got a second controller with Uncharted for Christmas)

I have the panel wall mounted and I'm picking up my new Ikea tv stand/dvd towers after work today so photos to follow tomorrow. :)

I was a lot busier/lazier than expected so here are some bad photos that I'm too lazy to color correct or wait until the weekend when I can have some natural light in the house:
