I dont think he inhaled a whole hell of alot tho. He more or less puffed.

I got personal experience with relatives passing away being heavy smokers and the illness not being related to smoking. I dont think its quite as bad as they say but - you do increase the risk

You know I was looking up the world's oldest people on Wikipedia the other week and some of these people are over 120 years of age. When people talk about smokers in their 90's or 100 I don't think "smoking must not be as bad as they say" I think "I wonder how old they could have lived if they didn't smoke". I'm sure not everyone is affected by it the same way but I think we can all agree that regular smoking doesn't help and just because a few people do it and live long lives doesn't mean the other 99.9% of people are.

We are all pre-destined to develop or not certain conditions - due to your dna based on hereditary traits.

Environmental conditions and habits will either cause certain things or curb certain things, depending on how you live. Smoking increases the chances for a lot of things in everyone. Not all will develop, as some people naturally defy the effects of smoking. In others, smoking brings out the worst and kills you - where if you weren't smoking, you woulda got off alot easier or have a much greater chance of not getting sick in the first place.

I prefer to go with better chances and save alot of money. When I think about it - I was paying to try and get sick and reduce my health.

But you looked so cool doing it....I did for 25 years and gave it up so that I could jump on the environmentalist bandwagon and take all of your fossil fuel burning cars away. The pollutants from just one tank of gas far exceed a lifetime of burning tobacco.

yeah I know, people do look so cool smoking don't they. Out in the bitter wind, rain and sleet to suck in that tasteful beautiful smelling mind swelling treat that makes ya tingle all over if you smoke too fast. sigh one can miss this lol

the fossil fuel thing is a good topic for another thread tho. We could have been on that bandwagon a very long time ago.

imagine burning Hydrogen, pipe the exhaust right into the cab of your vehicle and breathe away freely. Lets just pay off the right people to keep that from happening while we continue to destroy the earth. makes perfect sense.

So today is Day #1. I'm on the champix (1mg twice a day) now and it's not going too bad. Smokes taste like crap now. I can't get over how nasty they are. I don't enjoy them, but I found myself lighting them up and then almost putting them right out. (not today last week).

Hopefully I'll be smoke free!

So I'm almost at the 2 month mark and still going strong. I been doing well not smoking while I drink, however I found myself lighting up one night (1 smoke) while at a friends, other then that I haven't had any. I've been off the champix for just over a month now. I couldn't swing it the 3 month term, it was too much on my stomach.

The wife should of quit 40 days ago, she has the prescription for the Champix, however has been putting off getting it filled. So she still smokes around me (in the car, etc) She even smokes in the house when her son isn't home.

I'm hoping she can crack the habbit, because I'm going to throw her outdoors come Jan 1st. lol.

Well...

Its been months since I first took the meds. They have long since been done and I haven't felt this great in years.

No cravings at all. none. Passing by people that smoke causes me to lose my breath. Just like any person that has never ever smoked.

Deep down most smokers want to quit but just can't. There is no willpower involved at all. Any of you that wanna give it a try, do it. The end result is being a non smoker and having more money to spend on your puter :P
