Ok so I'm ordering a few new parts from MB this week and I'm wondering how much my system performance will improve once I've made this switch. New system: Asus P5N73-AM Intel C2D e8400 2gb (2x1024) OCZ Reaper HPC Ed. Geforce 8800GT I'm really hoping this will be an improvement since I had a wicked bottleneck from my old cpu and mb (P5GD2-x and Celeron D 64 3.2ghz) and my 8800GT. I only have a 450 watt power supply now so I don't use opticals, but if anyone has a cheap PSU 550w or more let me know and we can work something out. |

If the 450 is a quality unit, it should be fine |

Yeah the 450 is sufficient and is what I'm currently using. I just miss the luxury of optical drives and side panel fan. |

what brand and amperages does the psu give (should be on the side of the unit) 12v and 5v is your important ones to look for in regards to optical and fans... |

It don't even have a brand name, came with my case as a combo. It says for +12v 24.0A and for +5v 0.3A. Everything is in molex, no pcie or sata connectors. So I had to buy adapters to turn 2 molex into one 6 pin pcie adapter and i use 2 hard drives which use 1 molex-sata connector each. After that, everything is used up so no more connectors for opticals or side panel fan. |
