I don't care if HST is 2% higher if my internet is 100% more awesome than the rest of the country!

This is quite possibly the most anti-consumer practice that the monopoly funded and supported CRTC has slammed on the consumers to date.

OH, and for all you Canadiens fans:

Thank you for taking the time to contact us. We can certainly assist you with your issue.

At Shaw Direct, we carry all the Montreal Canadiens games in both SD and HD on RDS and we’d be happy to offer it to you at half the subscription price (on our RDS/RIS package) for six months. It was TSN’s decision to take a handful of (Regional Blackout) English-broadcast Montreal Canadiens games and making them available only through a new surcharge. Shaw Direct is not in support of this move to penalize our customers with further fees, and we are encouraging TSN to bring these events to their existing specialty channel. Other companies such as Rogers, Videotron, and Eastlink share our position, and we are all encouraging our customers to contact TSN directly to let them know what our viewers want. Should you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us. Please include any previous correspondence with your replies.

Thank you for choosing Shaw Direct,

Emphasis mine, I pay for my parents Sat TV, since they don't really have any phone service at all up in Northern Ontario. And Bell is a very evil company anyways, we all knew that before.

I still call Eastlink, Weaklink but looking at the other shit that get's crammed down peoples throats by the Bell's, Telus's and Rogers of the country... The protectionist crap by the CRTC has to end, if the domestics won't actually compete, while their infastructure is built up by Cdn tax dollars, open it up. They don't have to suffer with this kind of crap in Europe which is a wide open market.

Well, except that they live in Europe. I'm sure there are lot of people o'er there that feel quite entitiled to everything. See example of the "riots" about changing the retirement age from 60 to 62 in France.

Eastcrap blows. I wish we had the providers they have out west I know that. I've been having problems out here in Sambro for the last 4 months. they say they fixed it which is BS. they gave me a free yr of extreme 30, DVR box free for yr with 30 more channels, another DVR box free for 3 months & $20 off my bill each month.

still doesn't help with this Image that were forced to have to contend with.

You mean like Shaw? Paying twice as much for the same service and have a stupidly low bandwidth cap?

I was in Calgary last month and my friend there has Shaw and I used it for a little bit and didn't find it all that amazing and I don't believe his bill was that great ether. :?

I wish Eastlink here was better than it is. People here are switching to Aliant like mad and end up happier than they were on EL. Not that EL isn't fast here but it's terribly unreliable. I don't know if it's the conditions of the lines or what but I know people who have had EL repair guys to their house almost on a bi-weekly basis and they still can't get it working properly after a year or more now and then some others who have no problems at all. I'm moving in 3 weeks and I will be switching to EL .. I hope like heck I don't end up one of the people with major problems.

That service listed above must cost at least 200$ a month based on the lesser package "high-speed warp" is 97$. Sure I could get 100Mpbs from eastlink for 150$ a month as well. The 500GB cap is rediculous.

@Tony - Thats not unusal for him being on a University Campus. Either he is plugged in somewhere on campus or he is in residence. (and at no cost to him) I had numbers similar to that when I was at St.FX a couple of years ago as well as when I was out west in Edmonton for university.

Oh, I did not read and see it was a university ISP. Well I guess the cost of tuition covers the speedy internets.
