It's so we don't get rediculous gas spikes randomly 15 times a day...

Like this place...Toronto (May 10th 2011)! Apparently gas prices are going up and down, or something...it's what I read on the internets.

I saw a video from the states somewhere where the price per gallon kept climbing as they pumped.

Another point that is also sad, is that if gas went down to say a dollar a liter everyone would be happy. We are being conditioned.

Gas is also going up AGAIN tonight - which forces long line ups and HUGE cash grabs. I barely drive my car anymore. Cheaper to take the bus to work so I do. Its also why I have a motorcycle. Less fuel.

something you may or may not have heard is that Honda is testing a car that is fueled solely by Hydrogen (in California). It looks and performs exactly like the newer designed Civic. This is a far better option than Battery for countless reasons. One of the main ones being exhaust - which is oxygen and water, perfectly consumable and clean.

Also, where the car has only a handful of moving parts, there's virtually nothing to wear out, Hydrogen being the most abundant element in the universe, we wont run out. No pollution, no batteries, no waste from batteries the list is very long.

On top of all that, it gives equal performance where batteries don't. Longer drives on less fuel etc etc etc. Wish we would all collectively give oil companies the middle finger and move to hydrogen tomorrow.

Hydrogen is abundant but not in a pure form that these fuel cells need. To produce hydrogen from say water, it takes energy. Burning it to power a car then just releases that energy in a clean way, but the initial energy might have been produced by a coal planet which isn't very good for the environment.

Batteries have their issues but from what I've been seeing they, or those new capacitors I hear about that can hold a charge, are probably the best bet. It gets everything on to the electrical grid, and then its just a matter of having the energy produced for the grid done in more green ways.

What needs to happen is for all our energy needs to be produced from hydrogen.Once the ball is rolling, hydrogen power plants give us the energy needed to produce more pure hydrogen. The exhaust, water,is then usable as more fuel. It's the only way forward as far as I can see.

At least it appears it will be going down...a fair amount.

the price drop is still utter bull. We are still being gouged at the pump.

Hydrogen is the answer. Yes, its usually always attached to other elements that have to be separated but we would only use fossil fuels to do that for the short term. So it is justified.

I would really like to see all gas vehicles in the next 10 yrs be obsolete.

Agreed.

A good documentary to watch if you haven't seen it - Who Killed The Electric Car.

I'll second that.

Just to throw it in as well. Food Inc I believe it's called. Was very informative.

Was Food Inc. the one that was on CBC like last year? If so then ya, it was good. I had a hard time eating meat after that and since then have cut back on my intake a fair amount. It's not so much that I'm one of those people who are like "My body is a temple!" *lights a cigar and has another drink of scotch*, it's that I don't think North Americans need to be eating the amounts of meat we do and really don't like the treatment of the animals.

i wear two hats on this one...as one a consumer paying less to travel the 45km one way to work is good. on the second, when i GET to work I run a gas bar, as well as numerous other entities, i.e. grocery, liquor outlet, hardware store etc...and we although are lucky with small volume gas bar, but still with 7900 liters in the fuel tanks, we lost 700 in margin...when your in a rural area and selling the items i seel either low volume or low margin, it hurts big time. small business operators like myself take a beating with all these little things. i.e. min wage (yes they deserve it) but for 248hrs a week X 52 weeks = 4500 added to wages....its a rough go running a business in N.S.
