I've seen this in action in 2005 Fleet Week in New York. A French Destroyer (which was being towed by New York's finest) scraped the crap out of a Pakistani supply ship which was parked alongside. Most of us stopped what we were doing to gawk at the sheer stupidity. Then they pulled it out at the same angle and decided that it was even more fun to just scrape it all over again :P

so 2/3rds of our navy are now out of commission? I guess they can sit in dry dock and wait in line behind our subs for repairs.

Subs get "fixed" on their own schedule, with their own resources and budget.
