Post subject:  Computer Graphics Problems...

Hey guys, I seem to be getting extremely low fps in the majority of the games I play. I used to have an nvidia 6600, and then just recently I upgraded to an 8800 GT. Since then I have seen very little to no improvments in the fps department. Most people I have talked to about this problem said that I should be getting better fps with the system I have... SO, I just want to make sure that I have everything set up right and installed correctly so I am not missing out on frames that I should be getting.

-nvidia 8800 GT 512 mb
-AMD Athlon 3200+ single core, 2.01 GHz
-2 gigs of RAM
-A8N-SLI Motherboard

With this system I get about 40-100 frames playing css with the CEVO config on (low graphics config). This is really no issue. BUT, when I try to play TF2, I get anywhere from 11-60 fps (usually hovers between 20-30.) I really don't think I should be getting 11 frames on any game with an 8800 GT. Unless I am sadly mistaken... PLEASE HELP

With low graphic settings your CPU will be the bottleneck on how many FPS you get so this could be an issue of your chip keeping your card from doing more. From what I understand CS:S doesn't have high graphical requirements to begin with and from what I've seen of TF2 it doesn't really either.

I don't have any configs running on TF2. I run it with recommended settings.

Well what I was saying is that it probably isn't very graphically intense either and in those situations the CPU is the bottleneck not the videocard.

Maybe someone who knows those games better can post their specs and FPS's though.

I'll ask this since you didn't mention it. You went from a 6600 to an 8800. Did you uninstall the 6600 nvidia drivers and install the latest 8800 drivers?
