http://www.cbc.ca/canada/story/2008/08/ ... -dion.html Already saw a Conservative ad. on da tube... Frankly the Conservatives antic's have pissed me off long enough, sure they've thrown long needed cash into our Military, but, I'm pissed off now, and I'd just like to see this wanker gone, even if it means voting NDP (which is the only real choice here unfortunately) |

He says he wants to work things out to avoid an election at the same time the Conservatives were buying up air-time and creating TV ads for him. It reminded me of Bush amassing soldiers in Iraq but saying that he was going to try diplomacy first... right. Harper knows the country is going to be worse off in a year from now so it's better for him to have the election now, which is (surprise surprise), against his own semi-law/promise of not having these irregular interval elections that benefit the leading party. More money for the military is fine but it always means a trade-off from somewhere else and it looks like Canadian Art's programs are going to be hit hard because of this which I'm not ok with. Besides I'd rather see some money go into expanding our Health Care system. Why do Canadians still need health insurance from private companies? I mean, I know why (to help pay for the drugs we may need) but why isn't this included in our Health Care? And what about Dental - why can't that be included? Anyways, I'll stop ranting now but I'll be voting NDP as usual. |

I don't recall reading of dentist shortages or people having difficulty in finding a dentist (for most parts of Canada), or having to wait 6+ month for a dentist appointment, or any of the other problems plaguing our health care due to government interference. |

Our Health Care System is far from perfect but I do pride myself as a Canadian for at least having one. There's some things in life I just don't feel it's right to put a price on and health care, education and law enforcement are just some of those things. skiman wrote: government interference
When Governments regulate industries too little we get things like sub-prime mortgage rates, which left thousands homeless in the US, and cell phone carrier companies... ok the part about cell phone companies is a bit of a joke but you can't seriously tell me their "competition" is helping the consumer can you? |

Thing is about Fannie May and Freddy Mac is that they are actually goverment run organizations with little or no oversight (yeah I watched PBS for a few days got enough of that BS). The whole thing about phone companies/cable companies in the states is that they take gov handouts, don't upgrade infrastructure, sell too many "unlimited" plans and then throttle the bandwidth hogs. Then they charge too much money and they go "hey what!" when people start getting pissed off. It's just a great big screwup in the states because of the way industry lobbyists control everything now. But that's just my defeatest opinion. |
