How about skipping measley little skull trail and going strait to the big boys. May I present the cray CX1. Bundle that with an NVIDIA quadro plex and for $30,000 you have a serious problem on your hands! http://www.cray.com/ what do you think Clarke?? |

Somewhere between week 40 and 44, Nehalem. Frankly, this ought to stomp any other system currently available to us mere mortals. So goes technology, one day is hot, the next day is not. |

Everywhere? Perhaps you should read the initial review and especially the Final remarks: First keep in mind that these performance numbers are early, and they were run on a partly crippled, very early platform. With that preface, the fact that Nehalem is still able to post these 20 - 50% performance gains... http://www.anandtech.com/cpuchipsets/in ... i=3326&p=1 or here on a prototype X58 mobo http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/intel-neh ... 28701.html Fairly impressive numbers for such early motherboards, bios, and drivers. Some other benches here http://www.nehalemnews.com/search/label/Benchmarks A few more weeks will tell if the $289 processor beats the dual 771s....across the full spectrum. |

Lol crazy? Yes. Borderline retarded? Yes, but I wish I had one. I mean by the time its done your into several thousand dollars, enough for a nice car or a down payment on a house. In a couple years it will be outdated and not worth a tenth of what it was worth new, but hey if you have money to burn give er. Wish I did. Looking forward to watching the project unfold. |

I'm interested to see how this revision of HyperThreading performs. It would be sick to have the equivilent of a 8-core CPU in a quad core. Perhaps I will wait for this to be released before I build my Photoping, video editing bohemoth. |

Oh man Clarke, you have to take some photo's of your current setup! You must have quite the command centre with all those computers you have built recently. If you have any old ones that you don't want and would care to donate them to a poor photographer like myself in need of some computing power just send me a PM |
