ok then next question would be what asus mobo's will work with the new phenom X2 i have a MA78-EMH HDMI and cant find any info on if it will support the cpu or not and if not will the ASUS M3A78-PRO or GIGABYTE GA-MA790X-DS4 work with it and is there going to be a 3.0 or 3.2 in the PhenomX2? |

i would definitely get the asus over the gigabyte in this case. both boards will support the phenoms and newer. also, assuming http://www.asus.com/products.aspx?l1=3& ... odelmenu=1 is your current board then you won't need a new motherboard to support the cpu in question here. you may just need a bios update. |

yes both boards will support am3. I also agree with asus over gigabyte. the m3a78 is a good board, and also has more sata ports than the gigabyte board. (i think, im not a 100 % sure) |

the asus seems to have 6 sata ports where the gigabyte only has 4 also, my reason for saying the asus over the gigabyte is simple. google up "ga-ma790x-ds4 catch fire" and you'll see. the problem only seems to happen with 125W+ cpus though as i have that gigabyte board and an X2 5200+ and it's working perfectly fine. |

Gigabyte isn't alone in the fire business though. Many AM2 boards won't handle a 125W cpu. Even Asus's ones that claimed to, have been pulled from the approved list. I'd go with the latest chipset to be on the safe side. |

this much is true, one of the 790X chipset based MSI boards has the same problem as the gigabyte board in question. it's just odd that for the MSI board i mentioned the solution was to simply add a heatsink over the mosfets... hell, my board has the outline for where a heatsink is supposed to be, yet there's no heatsink in sight. |

OK then if not the gigabyte then MSI K9A2 CF-F Socket AM2+ for crossfire then? and as for cpu im only planning on running dual core 2.8 to 3.2, but im guessing if i want dual x16 the only board for amd in an asus is gonna be M3A79-T Deluxe 790FX+SB750. |
