It has no actual practical purpose other than to render Audi cars at 5fps.

cool idea tho if we could have a vid card we could upgrade ourselves ie add better processors and more memory.
but then i guess nvidia or ati would be out of business and the ram company's would be making tons

Ray tracing is the direction that intel wants to take Larrabee, and the are dumping a crapload of cash into it as well.
