Well Nvidia has been hard at work with the new Fermi cores. Boasting 3billion transistors, a full billion over the 5870. Apparently also going to run much hotter and be more expensive than the 5 series from ATI. When they were asked about cost and heat issues they deflected. - Maximum PC

See how she goes in 2010.

What a co-inky-dink, a really soft launch by Nvidia as the HD5970 2GB arrives

yeah i know.

I seen some photos of the x2. that thing is Immense and supposed to be the new top dog. Nvidia will have to really do some work to top that card's performance and power consumption for a very comparable price tag. Which they won't.

Practically a repost.

No point in discussing how yields work either...

ATI yields certainly aren't incredible but NVIDIA seems to be having bigger issues with Fermi. Both are 40nm processes on TSMC aren't they?

March of next year is projected for the midrange chips but the flagship is now coming sometime in 2nd quarter... that's an awfully long time to let ATI rule the market.

Ati's yield issues should have been worked out on the 4770's, which leads us to the rumour that AMD didn't order enough 5 series chips because they expected the competition to be a bit more in the game and not just making fun of Intel or releasing fake pics of products they don't have yet or rebranding yet another piece of crap to make it seem like new tech.

Guess who was in Mysterybyte today?
Guess who saw at least 4 5870's and 6 5850's?
Availability not a problem.

I did see some GT210's, which are pretty much GT310's.
