Can a HDMI to DUAL LINK DVI-I adapter (comes with the 4890) be used from the vidcards DVI out using a SINGLE LINK DVI-D cable with the HDMI to DUAL LINK DVI-I adapter at the end of the cable hooking up to a TV's HDMI input. Im guess it can but i wont get the sound when going from Vid Cards DVI to the Tv's HDMI |

If your using the video card for the audio, it will pass through, if your using a soundcard or onboard mobo audio, you can sometimes pass it through the video card if it has a SPDIF input, otherwise you'll have to hope the TV has audio inputs associated with one the the HDMI inputs. |

So if i disable the onboard sound it should pass through the DVI on the vid card? I thought the sound would onlt travel through the HDMI out on the vid card? and the SINGLE LINK DVI-D cable will carry sound? |

http://www.mysterybyte.com/part/11864/ Although it's plugged into a 4650 and an HDTV, I have no idea if that card or that cable supports the audio, I'll giver a look tonite. |

The sapphire 3870 passes 5.1 audio threw the DVI out with a DVI to HDMI dongle so the 4890 might aswell if not then, where is the cheapest you can buy a HDMI cable only need a 3 footer MB im guessing for $18 |
