Seems my WD5000AKKS from 2007 has croaked. I'm pretty sure it's still under warranty but I need an ASAP replacement. I'm thinking a WD Black, 500GB to 750GB. I've either got to wait for shipping, or do a 3hour road trip on Saturday cause I ain't paying the local prices.

why buy one when you can buy two at twice the price!

factor in the fuel costs and prolly food cost cause most people get hungry in that span, it may be worth it to buy local.

With taxes and gas I can get a 500GB Black at MB for less than the price of a 500GB Blue here. I'll save about $18.

LOL yup, Hali Newf, we see an average of 175-200% markup here in New Glasgow.

I asked a local computer shop for sh!ts and giggles if they could get me an HD5850.

.

$745+taxes

2-3 weeks shipping lol

OMG phonix - what a deal for a 5850 LOL what are they smoking to charge that amount?

holy hell, I didnt know it was really THAT bad. Steve-o said it best. Road trip!

Edit: order from an E tailer and put your own 30% on it and still undercut those guys for making local sales.

65% markup on the WD Blue over MB's price.

there is a WD black 2TB drive with the dual controller 64mb cache that blows away a 300G velo with read and write times. 50 bones more expensive therebouts.

try ordering one of those from the local pc shop. another 600 bucks and 3 weeks waiting.

I'm actually going to Truro for the weekend but MB is too far out of my way really to pick up the drive for you considering it would probably add another 30+ minutes to the trip with a cat in the car with us during Friday rush-hour. :(

But if one of the MB employees lives in Eastern Passage and could bring it home with them tonight I could cut 2 hours off your trip time... oh who am I kidding, you probably just broke the drive yourself for an excuse to go there this weekend amirite? ;)

Seem's like it might be a good day to go for a drive, gonna be kinda noisey with the studs still on though.
