I passed on the $150 HP Touch's, I was tempted, but skipped, the $179 Kobo Vox's, I think I will be getting a Nexus 7 though.

Yeah, it's a good time to be in the market for a "sub-tablet"(?). I'd like to get the new Transformer with 1920x1200 screen, but it's incompatible with the keyboard doc of my TF101, and mine still works...meh.

I have the touchpad dual booted with ICS, but I'd still really like to get the Nexus 7.

12 core video processor. Do I need to say more?

:)

I read the other day that Nexus 7 is barred from being sold in the US, hopefully not the case with Canada.

Hopefully not because I put in my pre-order this weekend. :?

It arrived last night and I'm very happy with it. Nothing mind blowing about it but it's very solid all round (OS and hardware) and better than most $300-400 tablets I've tried out from what I can tell.

The 8gb models shipped out to Canada earlier than the 16gb's ones, which over sold expectations and are currently out of stock on Google Play.

Jellybean (OS 4.1) is just that good, compared to ICS (4.0), I'm glad Asus is updating all their Transformer Tablets in the near future :) (HTC can suck it long and hard Trebek!)

Problem is that there is no Micro SD slot, so no external memory. 8GB is kind of useless, especially when you can only use wifi/the cloud to upload stuff.

Apparently Amazon is going to launch several newer kindles later this year, so more opportunities for people to not get stuck in the fruit-themed walled garden.

The micro SD slot would have been nice but I actually don't think I'll need a lot of space on it. I'm mainly going to be using it around the house for checking things on the net and Angry Birds so in the odd chance I'll be taking it out with me to somewhere I can't get WiFi access (ie. NetFlix won't work) I'll still have some games and will have enough room to put a couple of movies on it. I mean I'd have to plan to put the movies on and then remove them before I could add any more but I'm not too worried about that. I'm not one of those people that needs my entire (or any to be honest) MP3 collection on it and a selection of movies at any given time, but I know some people are like that. ;)
