Is there a big performance gain to be had (in the real world) by using PCI-E X1 over PCI cards?

I'd like to get 4 extra SATA ports in my next HTPC/FS and I've got (what appears to be) a choice between the:
Syba Sil3114 PCI TO SATA 150 Controller with /RAID (4PORTS) ($37)
or 2 of
Syba SiI3132 PCI Express x1 2-Channel SATA II, RAID 0 or 1 (28$ x 2)

I'm not planning to raid in any way shape or form (as I just need a bunch of space, nothing fancy), and the mobo I'm going to use it on has 3 PCI slots and 2 PCI-E X1 slots (one of the PCI slots is going to have a Gbit NIC). The extra 20$ would be worth it if there is a boost in speed over the PCI and/or it uses substantially less CPU resources. I can't see having 0 free PCI-X1/0 PCI slots being a big issue since most other addon cards would be available in either fashion.

If anyone has any input I'd appreciate it.

If the bandwidth #s listed on this page....

are to be believed you'll get 3 times the amount of bandwidth out of a PCIe X1 slot and a standard PCI slot SATA in theory is almost saturated by 1 SATA drive.

Based on those #s I'd go PCIe X1

Yeah sounds good. As long as the PCI-E 16X slot video card doesn't bump into the 1X slot.

Any real-world numbers thought floating around, my 5 minute cursory search didn't reveal any meaningful numbers.
