So I am on the verge of purchasing some new parts. This is what i am leaning towards...

INTEL Core 2 Duo E8400 3.0GHz FSB1333MHz 6MB LGA775 Dual-Core $226.00

1 13398 ASUS P5K-E WiFi-AP S-775 P35 3PCI/2PCI-EX/2PCI-E 16X 4DDR2- 1066, SATA RAID0 WIFI 1394 1xGbL $174.00

Kingston kvr800d2n5k2/4g (2x2Gig) 4GB 800MHz DDR2 5-5-5-15

Everything Purchased from Mysterybyte.

Does anyone have any comments or suggestions on this?

I wish that Mysterybyte had the P5K Deluxe Wi-fi Black Pearl Edition (in DDR2)

The more i read about this motherboard the more i love it, i havent heard any negatives about it other than the lack of a PS2 port for a mouse (big deal!),clearance issues with 2 of the sata ports (2/6) no big deal, and that the BIOS must be updated to run a core 2 duo 45nm..... i will use my current HDD and other componets untill i decide to get new ones so the GF and i can run seperate systems...

depends on his operating system; if he's using a 32 bit OS then it can't address anything higher than 4G. So unless he's using say vista 64bit then 4G should be fine and is basically the max that can be used by the OS.

That list looks pretty good maverick. And the mainboard supports core2quad, so you can upgrade to quad in the future.

all i have to do is settle on the memory and it will be purchased...(plus a pm sent off to rob to see if they can update the bios to support the 45nm cpu)

Are you planning to overclock?

If so, I'd look for some PC2 8500 ram if you can get your hands on it.

With an intel chipset, your memory cannot be set to run under a 1:1 ratio, so any FSB above 400 is going to push your ram out of spec. Add to this the fact that quad pumped 1333 chips start out at FSB 333, you can see where you'd run into a wall pretty quick.

Unfortunately, word on the street is that the newer Ballistix stick don't play nice with P35 boards, so you should avoid them unless you can verify that they're the older double sided versions.

I'm not sure how new you mean by "newer" but my Ballistix work fine with my Gigabyte P35 board if that's any help. Haven't got into overclocking yet but I probably won't for a while anyways.

Mine run fine on a P35 board as well (4 sticks even... :) ).

By newer, I mean the new single sided 1 gig sticks.

With heatspreaders so common on memory now I don't think I even noticed if it was single or double-sided. :? It was most likely the double-sided stuff then because I really haven't had any issues.

It was also my first time using Crucial Memory since I did back when (circa Pentium 1's) you either had Crucial Memory and an Asus Motherboard or you might as well consider your PC unstable, so it was nice to have the company still live up to my expectations. :)

placing an order for Super*Talent T800UX4GC5 STT DDR2-800 4G(2X2G) PC6400 5-5-5-15 $116.00 no need for over clocking, just want to plug this baby in and run. I am not worried for over clocking because i am sure my system will be bottle-necked with the 8600gt i am running right now. So untill i get a new Video Card, i am not gonna worry about the memory. just want a 4gb kit to run with Widnows Vista 64bit.

the older double sided sticks where micron d9 chips thats why they were so popular, the newer single sided sticks use a cheaper flavor of chip thats why there are issues with them now. the D9's could run at about 1200mhz as well ;)
