In and amongst other reviews on the wibbly wobbly web http://www.overclockersclub.com/reviews/corsair_ax1200/ That's pretty sexy right there pretty much covers everything up to GTX 480 TRI-SLI or Dual 4GB 5970's. Only drawback is that it's 300$. But it is Corsair so that means it'll work and fit nicely in me 800D. |

Dumb question "but why make them completely modular?" could be because they can be used in dual psu set up? |

i like the idea of full modular.gives you more options. for example sleeving all the 20/24 pin wires individually. looks sexy |

It was probably just as easy to solder the extra contacts to the PCB in the PSU as it would be to run a bunch of wires out. It would also store in the box better. It would also facilitate testing more easily as you hook all the cables into each CPU as it goes down the line as compared to hooking it into the (probably) more expensive testing device. It looks hellacool as well. |

The Ultra X4 850 watt I use is also fully modular with flattened cables for easier routing. Its wicked awesome. |
