So apparently there are decent NDA breaking rumors out there that the 720 will not have an optical drive. And it will arrive in 2013 (xmas?)

Oh, and it uses ATi super secret tech!

Postulation runs rampant, I find this a good thing for several reasons:

- Cartridges are inherintly better than discs (smaller, can hold more, more rugged)
- Less cost overall for system, one can add an external drive later if they really want to use it as a media center.
- Simpler construction = less things to break, quieter, less power usage, quicker load times

Some things that may (and probably will) go very wrong:
- Some games only available to be downloaded over the internet (not everyone has unlimited 20mbit connections)
- Secondary games market will tank due to locking cartridges to systems

Discuss!

The rumours I've heard about the Ati tech is it's older mid ranged PC stuff, nothing earth shattering.

yes but older pc tech would however offer higher quality graphics all around and step up the games some.
