Looks like you're using the right gear.

Once you get a hang of swapping gear so much you statr hack jobbing your old gear.

Heres my lift for the same job

Tube of AS5
Paper Tower
Fantastic Spray Cleaner.

Thats it... lol

Ok so I reseated everything, and put new compound on the cpu. Tidied things up a bit and put it all back together. Still getting these hitches and spikes.

UPDATE!

Now my pc is locking up after 2-3 minutes after boot. It's about to happena gain so i'll make this short. Any suggestions? I did a GREAT job on the paste...

UPDATE 2!

The crashing was due to the southbridge cooler detaching itself. Still getting the fps spikes though..

How's your case in terms of exhausting warm air? not tucked into a spot under your desk with no air flow? case isn't full of warm air?

a CPU or video card heatsink can only do so much if the internal case temp is high... does your video card exhaust outside the case or into it?

Case air is good. Got a good air cycle going through it, powered by two 140mm fans, 1 for intake 1 for exhaust.

Steve-o, I haven't been able to try a different mobo cuz frankly there's none to try lol, really wish I could though.

Just ditch the Nvidia chipset motherboard already. And stay away from cheap ASUS boards...

There are a few cheap boards under the 200 range that are real good too.

Real soon boys, real soon.

Money might be tight for the next couple of weeks but I'll definately be finishing up my system upgrades with a new mb.

790GX Crossfire it is then

I want to pay $150 or less for it.

Time to start researching, although I would like to use giga or asrock boards.

We'll see..

Nope I did not. Tomorrow is payday. I'm really tempted, but dunno. I might sell my current board for $30 and put that towards a new board.

Sorry already have a buyer.

I really don't think there's anything wrong with it. I'm just throwing way too much power into it and it can't handle it. It's an Asus M2N-MX SE Plus. Older am2+ board with crappy nforce430 chipset. Cheap as they come. You can get em like 50-65 dollars pretty much anywhere that has a big mobo stock.
