OK, so I was fed up with my 8800GT overheating (90C+) so Grizz hooked me up with some AS5 to re-apply the compound. I cleaned up all the old stuff, then removed the thermal pads for the mem chips, and added the AS5 sparingly to all contacts. I don't spread my compound, instead the mem chips all got a small dab and the GPU got an even criss cross of compound. I booted up, and now my idle temp is higher than before (65C) but my load temp never breaks 80C, seems weird to me, any insight? |

uneven compound, too much, not enough pressure on the hsf, air pocket. Reapply and remount. |
