I've been getting a lot of lag within the last few days. When I check my physical memory (task manager) its at 86% constantly.. How do you dump your memory? and any ideas why its so full.. I have 8GB of ram so I can't imagine whats eating all of that up when I have nothing open...

Install XP. Or wait for Windows 7. I'm guessing yer using some form of Vista.

if you installed service pack 2 then keep checking for updates or roll back to service pack one.

SP2 has a memory leak in it?

SP2 just seemed to take up more ram idling for me. about 60% with SP2 as opposed to 40% with SP1.

I'll have to check for that when I switch my laptop over... that is unless one of the automatic updates I did over the weekend included it but I don't recall seeing anything.

Yeah I do have Vista... It doesn't really idle.. it just gets stuck at some point. I'll reboot and be fine. but like 4-5hrs later.. I'll feel this terrible lag. I check my physical memory .. and its at like 86% of 8GB's of DDR2 ram.. thats retarded

Windows isn't leaking physical memory.

It's an application you have.

I know for me for example. If I use daemon tools and install flight sim X I will have to reboot after.


Do a thorough look at the applications you're using and keep a keen eye out when you're using something in particular.

I hope this helps you as I felt your pain once before.

Open up task manager, go to the processes tab and sort by memory usage. It won't solve the issue but it should point out what is taking up so much of your ram.
