I have setup my system but wasnt able to get x-fire running in the two primary blue)slots. So one card is 16x and the other is 8x. I have made the appropriate changes to the bios ( as far as I know ) and still no x-fire. I have already removed the catalyst suite, took it down to one card, driver only, reboot. WDM drivers next, reboot. CCC install, reboot. Install 2nd card, reboot several times. nothing. pop the card in the 8x slot, and I get the x-fire option. ![]() only thing I can figure is perhaps theres an option that I missed in the bios. Does anyone have this setup and if so, what bios version and options are set? |

Welcome to the forums. There may be some weirdness going on with the CCC showing the Crossfire TAB. Enable Catalyst AI, run some benchmark(say 3DM06), then disable Catalyst AI and run the same bench, you if CF is working and it's just an issue of the tab not showing up, the first run should be noticably faster. |

first and foremost, thanks for the welcome and prompt reply/help. Bios is latest. If I do move the card to the 2nd primary from the 8x slot, I know x-fire isnt working as I can no longer get video from the top card (in the 1st primary slot). I have to plug in the lower card ( in 2nd blue slot ) to get vid out. |

I have to get video from the 2nd card when I move it in the 'proper' slots. Its a little perplexing. I wore a spot to the scalp from scratchin my head. |

Yo G, I got the same-o mobo. If you are willing to give x-fire a shot on a similar system, I have nothing to do for a while so bring yer stuffies over and we can get "perplexed", whilst looking for issues with crossfire and mobo. Heh. |

LOL Well I am at work right now - working hard as you can see, figured I would make a lil use of the time to figure this issue out. I am starting to think I shouldnt have 'upgraded' the board from my other asus x-fire lol Due to the nature of the problem, I am thinking its a setting in the bios thats making it shit the bed. |

I think CF is still only supporting 2 displays with CF enabled. I nearly went nuts trying to figure this out last year, below is what I determined after quite a bit of testing. Xp Pro 32bit, it works with both 8.1 and 8.4 if you plug both monitors into the same card, not sure if it works in the present configuration I have setup for F@H GPU2 Vista Premium X64 - 8.3 DOES not allow me to enable a second display while CF is enabled in the F@H configuration (aka monitor plugged into second card) I'll be doing some playing as I'm pretty sure CF was working under Vista with both monitors on the same card. Once I get SP1 installed and do a Vantage run that is. EDIT: 1 and 2 will both work if CF is enabled, 1 and 3 will not. I suspect 1 and 4 will not either. I'd put both the cards into the blue slots and they figure out to which card got assigned display 1, it may take some blind reboots to sort out. Only 2 ports should be able to have video if CF is enabled if things are as they were last year. |

I am going to spend some time wearing another hole in my hair to the scalp. I have and use only one 22' LCD. I am going to completely remove CCC, remove any ati entries from the registry and reboot - then start with one card and install driver, wdm, then CCC. input second card and reboot a few times until I see the x-fire tab. If if doesnt show, I will run a few tests to see if its actually working and a ccc issue. btw, I upped the wattage on the two x16 slots to the suggested 75watts from the default 25. |

Any1 else running this board with x-fire? If so I would like to double check my bios settings to make sure I have it set correctly. There are a few examples online, but there are several different. ![]() |

possible I may have to try that. I did the re-install tonight and it didnt fix the issue. I am thinking its a mobo setting or two thats making it sh*t the bed. |

OK...Took it down to 1 3870 after removing all ati drivers and removing a bunch of registry entries, several reboots later, reinstalled latest ATI Driver only first, reboot, WDM, then another reboot, then CCC and several more reboots. Still no x-fire with card in 2nd primary. popped the 2nd 3870 back into the 8x slot, boom - x-fire working. Has to be a bios setting (or two ) |
