Now it seems as if there's a problem with my ram. Last couple days things have been locking up (especially during rar extraction) and other similar applications. Look at what my task manager has to say about my memory usage:

if i'm not mistaken it looks like you have powerISO open. try unmounting any drive images you have mounted and then close powerISO. i mention this because i've had issues with poweriso recently that resulted in a memory leak that would consume 100% of my ram (4GB). |

Oh wow. Thanks for that! Do you think that could also be the cause of my graphic hitches? Because thinking back, PowerISO is one of the first apps that gets installed on any of my boxes, and it has consistently been on every install that has given me these graphic hitches. Should an uninstall fix this? |

Man, no need to uninstall if its a proggy that you use often. simply msconfig your machine - turn off all the unesessary crap that starts when windows does. If you want to use a prg, simply run it. Otherwise leave it off. Frees up cpu cycles and memory. Only thing running on mine besides the regular system processes is explorer.exe and my Antivirus. thats pretty much it. |

Should an uninstall fix this? the memory leak doesn't happen all the time, but i never could pin down a rhyme or reason to it. so i just switched to daemon tools (make sure you get the "lite" version and be very careful when installing). |

Yeah DT really went down hill when they started bundling junk with their software. Unfortunately, even after I uninstalled PowerISO I still got these problems, so I went ahead and reformatted and reinstalled Vista. That fixed the problem (so far), but it didn't help my graphic hitches, in fact, even after a clean install, 5 mins after I started COD4 it started hitching again. This is becoming a hindrance lol. |

Oh dude I see it. It's not your power ISO and shit. It's your total physical memory. My fiances computer had this same issue. Windows uses alot and games will build up the use of physical memory. After a little bit of playtime you'll start dumping memory like crazy and your HDD will go bizarro. Just dump in another GB or Two and you'll be fine. 100% sure B |

I dont see any problems in task manager - 2 gigs total. Vista will use all your ram caching shit it thinks youll open. Turn off superfetch, and itll only use the ram it needs. |
