I've tried EVERYTHING. I'm still getting these random lag spikes in games it goes from normal to 999 connection interrupted. I'm really at my wits end. Here's what I've done to try and fix the problem: Bought new, high quality RAM Put my graphics card on its own dedicated power supply Tried a different graphics card Tried a different PSU Tried every OS imaginable Tested my CPU and motherboard, all in great working condition Tried a new NIC card instead of the integrated nvidia one Bought aftermarket cooling for my graphics card I mean, this is ridiculous, I've tried everything. I'm on Eastlink's 15Mbps service so speed should not be an issue. Where do I go from here?? |

thats a really wierd issue. If it was a hardware issue, I would assume you have already covered everything. Only thing left at first glance would be some sort of software conflict or driver issue. Those are exceedingly hard to narrow down. |

Hmmm. I think I may have fixed the problem (knock on wood). I tried this before with poor results but this time it seems to have fixed the issue. I hooked up a direct connection between my cable modem and pc. So I guess there's an issue with the router. Strange though, I got this problem on 2 different brand/models of routers. |

Did you open any ports on the router that the game requires? The router I use is very basic and luckily I didnt have to do any setup in it for gameplay. |

Update: Well the ping problem is fixed, now I'm back to FPS drops to 5fps every minute or so. Holy shit when will this end?? Getting very frustrated. |

pain in the a$$...agreed. whos the provider? I would give em a call and see if they can replace the modem with a later model, or possibly firmware update. You can also have them direct you to a patch that will change how packets are handled. It has worked for me in the past with speed issues. I would also have a look at the router and open a few ports that the game requires. See how that goes. |
