A friend of mine has two OCZ Vertex 60GB 2.5IN SATA2 Solid State Disk Flash Drive SSD Part #: OCZSSD2-1VTX60G in raid 0. ( 2 drives ) When he benches his drives, his write times are very bad - about 50Mbps. Reads are over 200 which is fine. I do not own any ssd's so I am unable to assist much other than to look around forums and the internet so I thought I would post here in case any of you have an idea of setting etc that he should look into. His firmware version is 1.3 as well. |

OCZ forums are the place to look. |

Hardware or software raid? I'm not so sure SSD's work properly in a software raid config... Dedicated controller? Is it being used for boot partition AND pagefile? Something might be eating up the buffer... |

Thanks Steve-O, I have suggested that to him, but posted here on the odd chance that someone else encountered this issue and have a viable solution or suggestion. |

All I know is I've seen that problem (or close to it) many a time on those forums. |

Not without knowing any more info. Get him to try one card by itself. |

I can virtually guarantee that this is your friend's problem: (cut an paste from OCZ site) Quote: I had the same experience: x3 30gb Vertex (1.4 fw) RAID0 ICH10R Gigabyte EX58 UD5 Windows 7 x64 I came across a thread talking about write caching, so I went into my drive properties and saw that it was on. I turned it off and ran HDTune and was still getting ~150. I turned it back on and ran the test again and got ~600 average. This is my second Windows 7 install on the same hardware set up. On both occasions I had to do the same thing to get ~600mb/s. *On a clean install, Windows 7 indicated that write caching was on when it was actually off.* I came across your thread looking for intel drivers for my raid controller on windows 7 x64, but I've had not luck so far... Hope that helps. I'm still happy I got a dedicated RAID card. |

Hey Steve-O - thank you. I just passed that along. He is going to try it tonight. If successful or not, I will post back the results. |

So much better going dedicated raid. Oh and to answer my previous question, does software raid work on ssd's? |

Software raid, as in getting windows to do it for you? Or doing it on the motherboard's built-in raid controller? |

Yes, as in OS software to do it for you. Integrated raid is still hardware raid, albeit slow and inefficient... Just remember reading somewhere not many drives support software raid config.. |

I've never heard of anyone even bothering to do it due to it's lesser efficiency. |
