Hi all,

Got a weird one here (or at least I never ran into it before)
Hardware involved

Abit Aw9-Max
Intel e-2140
Seasonic 600 ht
Corsair HX620
Rocketfish 700 watt

OCZ 2x 2 Gb ddr2 800
Ballistix Tracers 2 x2 gb modules
Crucial 2 Gb ddr2 5300
Kingston 1 gb ddr2 800
Team Group ddr2 800

Sapphire HD4870 512
Evga 9800gt 512

Now no matter what configuration I choose the system will not post with the 4870 in the board, stops at error 52 which indicates memory. Which I have tried every stick by itself, cleared the bios, removed battery, changed battery.
Now if I insert the 9800gt...the system boots right up. So I thought the vid card may be bad, so I took it to a friends house who had a lesser psu then any of the ones I own and it booted and worked fine.
So i am totally at a loss, I once again have the battery out and clearing the cmos with the board out of the case, to give it another try.
I even tried using ps/2 keyboards and mice to see if that may be causing issues.
So if anyone has any suggestions I would greatly appreciate it as my son is missing his computer.( I got him the card to play Bad Company 2)
Or if all else fails....I could use another 775 mobo..but I would really like to fix this as it is driving me nuts.

Thanks in advance

Wow,
put in a cheap ass 8500gt...boots right up.
put the 4870 back in..stuck on error 52.
With the 4870 installed in the other slot windows doesn't even see it.
Sooo
took the 4870 to another computer with a ocz psu, once again boots right up no issue what so ever
so I guess my sons abit board will not work with the 4870
Odd how 2 other pci-e 2.0 cards work fine and one other does not..go go Abit i guess.

According to some research on Error 52 -- It could be a registry error. Both cards that work are Nvidia. Your registry must be looking for an Nvidia card and the ATI card doesn't work because of this.

I am just saying that it may be this.

It has to be along those lines. But I believe it is the bios that is being stubborn
It also works with a GTX470, and the 4870 works in my main rig...so neither card nor mobo is bad.
tried on various monitors to rule out that possibilty
I think the only thing left to try is to manually reflash the bios with a floppy, and hope that does it.
If not..nvidia card or another mobo and cpu :(
