This is starting to get ridiculous. Every day around 6 or 7am my internet goes to crap. Download speed goes from 25mbps to 0.15mbps and stays like that until midnight when it goes back to normal. This has been happening for 6 days straight, but it's been happening on and off for about a year now.

I've called Eastlink, they say they've "checked the lines" from their main office (no clue how THAT'S supposed to work) and they've also been to my house and said everything is okay so there's nothing they can do.

I really don't know what else to do at this point, but I feel like I'm getting the run around.

Any suggestions?

I have had connection issues off and on. Found the solution - swap out the modem.

Believe it or not the bastards get "tired". I dont torrent much at ALL and play the odd multiplayer online and thats it. It would loose connectivity here and there and my speeds were less than dial up at times.

Make the call, go in, drop off the old and get a new - she how she rocks then.

Tried that some time ago, they wouldn't replace it and wanted to sell me a new one...

The guy next to me at work has had his Eastlink Internet and TV go on and off all week he's said. He's been calling in all day to try and get someone to look at it. Another person here was telling him his internet has been getting slow at times too so it sounds like it's not just you... my internet and TV on the otherhand has been fine as far as I can tell. :-\

Wow what an ordeal. I decided to go check with my neighbors to see if they were having speed troubles. None whatsoever.

SO...

I went right to the eastlink drop (dont think this is legal) to the surprise there was a sub standard cable and splitter in the drop box. I disconnected everything.

I then went out and bought 4 lengths of 50ft quality coaxial cable and two 2.4ghz splitters.

I ran the new cables along the previous ones, replacing the shitty splitters with my new high speed splitters.

After drilling holes, tearing cables and spending about $60 in hardware (which I'm never going to be compensated for) I've realized my issue was faulty hookups from eastlink.

Goes to show if you want something done right, you gotta do it yourself.

Everything is working fine again.

SIDE NOTE:

Then why were the times in which it would drop or lower speed so consistent from night to night? Seems strange. Peak hours or something? IDK...
