Post subject:  Decent Gaming monitor

Hey there, I'm new to the forum but have been lurking for a little bit and it looks like a pretty decent little community here. I am in the process of putting together a new gaming system (putting it together on paper for now) and I was hoping for a little advice on a monitor. My price range is about 300-400 give or take 50 bucks and I have researched many monitors online. For just about every one I get mixed reviews. What would you guys suggest for a 22 inch or 24 inch gaming LCD?

Wow, I must thank you for this highly informative and technical advice. This is precisely what I was looking for. "24 for 329 @ poopy-shizzle" very clever. I love the word play on "poo" I only hope you can keep up on the creativity.

Well if you been lurking you would have realized that I typed and if you would have gotten confused you would have replied approperiately. So I claim BS for the fact you have been lurking.

I tried and failed to help you. You replied with ignorance.

Welcome to the forums. Now if you click the X on the top right of your browser that would be great. As well as not return.

But you can appologize prior.

I hope you become a more personable person...

Take care.

your right, I do owe you an apology. I am sorry for being a dink, but I did not know that's how links were blocked. I really thought you were being sarcastic and I replied ignorantly because of that. I should lighten up a little. I'm sorry

Accepted.

In all honesty I believe you and im keeping my post the way it is. This is for the fact that I got hot headed too and will keep it there as my personal embarassment.

I picked up the 245bw 24" from futureshop in one of a few open box specials for 329.99 You should be able to get one too. If theres a problem with the price PM me and ill give them a shout as I have a few friends working there.

Since when did competitors get replaced with shit, it used to be someplace. notallowed would be more appropriate though.

If you've got the graphics power to drive a 24", get it, just remember if you don't, running at a non native res. really SUCKS. Personally I've been very happy with my Samsung 245B, it has handled games that can't run at 1920x1200 well, unlike that Acer POS that BF2 hated with a passion. I had to edit the INI every freaking time I started the game, even though it supported 1280x1024 just fine.

The 22" 225BW seems like it may be the way to go. I was looking at the samsung LCD's and they seem to have the best user review rating. Most people who had Acer's or similar LCD's had a lot of bad things to say about them. I'm presently running a cruddy little Dell 17". My new rigg will have dual Radeon HD4850's or I was thinking of waiting a bit and going for the 4870's. I imagine those should power a 24 inch very well if I want to go down that rout. But thank you very much for the advice. I certainly apprechiate it.

In all honesty im in class at the moment with my 4870 after my last night tests with the 8800GTS OC.

I havent noticed a improvement game wise measuring although 3dmark06 showed a sign of improvement of 464 points.

So if you can get a GTS card used or new I figure it would be a better choice if it comes to the buck.

But if your going one or the other. I would say the 4870X2 I would wait for mate.

i get a 464 pt difference every time i run 3dmark. LOL 500 points roughly. without hardware changes. only real bench mark is acthual gaming. :)

4870 drivers are not fully matured like the 8800GTS OC keep in mind...the new 8.7 drivers actually brought some performance down...so give it a bit of time...
