Hey,
Just looking for some advise on upgrading to a new video card. Currently I'm running an ATI 4870 512MB. I'm looking to upgrade now that I have snagged a 40GB SSD and Windows 7 cheaply and can now use DX11.
I'm looking to spend around the $200 mark, +/- $50ish. From what I've looked at its coming down to a 6870 1GB or 6950 1GB, however I am open to other suggestions. I'm not big on Nvidia put comparable ones I am willing to look at.

Thanks,
SideWinderDX

I would go with the 6950 hands down. you will not need to bother flash the bios to do the 6970 or anything, the card is nuts as is.

Personally go with the asus version and read online why, to mention a couple points, its factory volt modded and overclocked and has one of the best stock coolers around.

Well, let me jump in as the voice of reason...1GB 6950 should be about 250+tax, and as long as yer not running eyefinity will do ya fine.

I've been LOVING the my new Radeon 6950 2gig card since picking it up a couple months ago from MB. I was debating going for the 1gig version over the 2 because of price but now that Crysis 2 has been patched to high rez textures I'm glad I have the 2 gig. I feel I'm pretty set to go for Battlefield3 with this card. Also running a Phenom 1075T processor and 4 gig of ram.

As mentioned there's no need to oc or make it a 6970, it handles anything that's current very well.
