Anyone else having issues with this card using windows 7 64 or is it just the new 9.9 catalyst causing problems?

It wouldn't suprise me if it was a driver issue, try rolling back to something older and see if the problem persists. Also, if your using the CCC, make sure you update that as well and just don't do a driver only update.

I'm waiting for the 22nd. Hopefully ATi releases some kinda driver update for XP though.

There is a brand new Vista/7 release for 5xxx series of cards.

I've seen some mention of problems with the 9.9s(had issues with them myself)on some hardware sites I keep an eye on.
Went back to the 9.8s and everything's fine.

hey Steve-O , you may have to bite the bullet and go 7. It may look similar to vista, but it really isn't. I think you would be really happy with it.

When I get off my ass and go get either 2 more gig of ballistix tracer or a diff brand 4 gig kit of 1066 , I am moving to 7.

No worries problem solved too many fans in my case drawing too much power from the card and upgraded to the 4890 instead.

I meant from the power supply, hence robbing the card of the power it needed when running 3d, i had 6 fans in it 3 120mm and 3 200mm now just the 3 200mm and no problems.

jeez - thats alot of air going thru a case lol

three 120mm dont use a whole hell of alot so if that little bit made that much of a dif then your psu is stressing a little.

Tony's got a 1000w lol

Well its what im guessing, the problems stopped after i unpluged them may have been card and fans causing the problem, all im hoping is i dont have any problems with the 4890 thats all that matters now lol.

Unless your ambient temp is very low in your room, having a billion fans won't make much of a difference. My old golden box, when the fans were all running gonzo, only brought the CPU temp down 5C.
