has it made a difference to the performance that you notice?

There should be performance increases on the 5 series cards (a 4870X2 should not be able to outperform a 5870!), I'll give it a go tonight.

They still didn't fix the problem with overclocking and 2+ monitors, something about the reduced idle speeds not being correct...One still has to use GPU Tool, but it works fine.

Funny thing is I didn't even have to reboot after the install. And that big mouse cursor thing was fixed with a mobo bios update a while ago, so that's cool.

Performance = SAME, XP Pro and Vista x64 tested. (don't get me started on multiple monitor support in Vista, FFS, do these people test anything)

not really.
they also still don't give an option to enable GPU scaling so that non-wide screen resolutions will look normal. their fix is to change your resolution to a "non-native" resolution to use the feature. makes no damn sense, but it does work :|

These will work for other 5000's series cards, i've read reports of improvements. This is a newer version than the 9.11's. Installed myself for truthiness.

For Vista/7 32/64 bit flava.

I installed the new drivers for the 4870 and went right back to MW2.

long story short - it sucked ...and badly. Anything with smoke made it glitch very hard, making the game utterly unplayable.

I reverted to the 9.10 and alls well.

I had random crashes with the 5970 drivers, went back to the official 9.11's and it's gravy. I think it also had to do with the acceleration for flash stuff (10.1beta).

It's actually one of the finer sets of Ati drivers I've encountered, those were what shipped with my X1950Pro years ago.

I do feel for those who are under the wrath of the drivers, new OS, etc. Don't take me seriously on the topic. Mind you i'm still biased to team green until the point comes along that i'm won over.

For now im happy with my laptop for work and PS3 for gaming.
