Just woondering if anyone thinks this card is too close to the power supply and is possibly taking in warm air from it? Power supply is a cooler master extreme 650 bottom fed air. Wondering because i have to run the card at at least 75% fan speed when gaming so the mem dosnt over heat, and thats with a 200mm in the front a 200mm fan on the side pannel and a 120mm on the bottom. |

no man not at all. If theres good airflow in the case, then that really shouldn't have much say in the temp of your card. Those cards get hot anyways. But here is something to try as it more than once, proved fruitful. Remove the cooler from the card, clean all the contacts and apply some fresh thermal paste in the proper amount, reapply and test. Also consider an aftermarket cooling solution if that doesnt make much difference but i would definitately try it. |

The card looks like it has a fairly beefy cooling getup on it already. |

Ya it has a 4heat pipe cooler the prob im having is the mem on the card staying cool is there any way to get the mem heat sink directly on the mem chips instead of that thermal strip they put between? I figure direct contact with some thermal paste would work better then that gum like stuff thats there. |

You can buy little mosfet heatsinks for your ram chips, will they fit under your cooler? Probably not. Maybe invest in a cooling solution that cools your pcb temp as well, as this is the best way to cool the ram. |

What's the memory "overheating" at anyways? |

Well on load with the fan on auto it reaches 75.5c without crashing fan speed 50% so some where higher then that and it's with online gaming never seams to be single player room temp is 22c. Ive been thinking maybe my front 200mm with 110cfm might be pushing the air back towards the mem side of the card not allowing it to completely exit out of the shroud? Id like to be able to get my card to 925mhz gpu (stock 850)and 1050mhz mem (stock 975) but im guessing its not gonna happen with the stock cooler? |

The main prob is the mem and no there are no heat sinks on the mem the cooler dosnt even come in contact with them and as for putting mosfets the 4 heat pipes are in the way of 4 of the mem chips so ive taken the shroud off too see if that might help get some of the side 200mm fan air to them. |

you're CCC should have manual fan control. With my two 4870's, each one is slightly different where temps are concerned as the cards are also slightly different ( brand ) Does the fan on your card move air at all towards the memory? I would definately enable manual fan control. My cards would easily reach that temp as the fans run maybe at 15% otherwise - auto. Bump the fan speed between 35-40 something % and test. Or when in game slide er up to 45-50% temps shouldnt exceed 65 at that point. Also. does the outside of your hdd cage allow for mounting of a 120mm fan? get creative if mounts aren't there and use ties if you have to -facing the video card and , if not done already, plug in the bottom 120mm fan directly to the psu for 100% fanspeed -to help feed that card some cool air from the floor. |
