Blah blah blah, love or hate Charlie, it makes sense.

In a nutshell, the new next gen (ie 6870) 28nm parts have now been pushed to the right, and we are going to see 40nm parts that incorporate the "uncore" from NI and the shaders from Evergreen. That should be out by the end of this year. Hopefully it has a bigger dedicated tesselation unit than the 5xxx's so everyone can stop whining aboot it.

From wiki on "uncore": The uncore describes the part of a microprocessor that is not the core. The core contains the components of the processor involved in executing instructions, including the arithmetic logic unit, floating point unit, L1 and L2 cache. Uncore functions might include L3 cache, the on-die memory controller, and other bus controllers such as PCI Express.

Hrmm, a 512bit memory bandwidth 5890, perchance?

Nice to see ATI is putting alot of effort in to stay on top of the game.

Now only if AMD would change things up a little and make a CPU that would knock out an i7 on an equal playing field.
