ok, im happy with the scores im getting with the oc'd 9800gtx+, so instead of plunking down a lot for a brand new higher end card im thinking of picking up a second 9800 and sli'ing them. BUT ,seems like there getting hard to find at least the gtx's. would i be able to pair it up to a 9800gt or should i just break down and pick up 1 or 2 5850's(which would have to wait a few more months lol )?

Can I mix and match graphics cards that have different GPUs?
No. For example, an XXXGT cannot be paired with a XXXGTX in an SLI configuration.

If you eventually want to get 2 5850's you might as well get a 5970. Less headaches.

I don't think too many people are going to recommend you buy a new 9800gtx (if such a beast exists*), old gfx is old. Get a used one if you can, but even those are $$$ due to the fact that a lot of people want to fold with them.

*Apparently looking online, I found a** Gigabyte 9800GTX+ for 105$CDN+tax+shipping+tax. Get it while it exists heh.

**being one and only one.

ya i suppose a single card would be a bit easier to tie into my loop anyways, argh i hate the layout of the cm II, if i had a 220 rad instead of a 320 then id be ok but it literally runs from top to bottom of the case mounted in the back. instead of chopping this case up im gonna tackle a case from scratch

Whatever case you get make sure it can fit a 12"+ card (aka 5970) :P

dont worry :P its gonna be huge, drew up some designs last night, the rad will have its own chamber for airflow, and the psu and drives will be in there own also. either gonna be a massive tower or a cubish design. scanner is packed (moving to the valley tomorrow) but ill take a camera pic of the drawings

ok, mobo on top, rad chamber in the middle, drives and psu on bottom. upon looking at it i might put rad at bottom just to bring the other 2 chambers closer for cable runs. mobo chamber completely acrylic, both sides top to bottom acrylic along with front around optical. rad chamber will be wire mesh, frame will be either L or c channel aluminum ({gotta love princess auto) seems that making one from scratch is the only way to get what im looking for in a case

im more then open to suggestions and ideas. sky's the limit, there isn't much i cant build, just suck at the design part lol

Just look up stuff on the mountainmod's website. I think dangerden makes some custom acryllic stuff as well.
