ok, going to be replacing the 5770 at the end of the summer (or sooner if i can sell some parts laying around or pick up a few extra shifts :P), so whats your opinion comparing the 5850 to the 5870, speedwise, oc ability, price, brand, anything else you want to say good or bad, price isn't a problem as ill be setting bits of my pay aside till i have enough.

also, the ones who have said cards, what kind of scores have you been getting?

rest of my specs in my sig, would consider xfire but single faster cards tend to run better,

The performance difference is on par with the price difference, AFAIK.

As newer drivers come out, there is a larger margin of performance of the 5870 over the 5850, but when it first came out, an oc'd 5850 was just under the performance of a 5870. Either way, can't go wrong, my 5850 smokes everything I throw at it, and then some. I still don't see why people need these 5970's and gtx 480's when I'm pushing ridic framerates in any game max settings on this 5850...

You pushing those FPS on 3 monitors? That's the new high-end, heh.

People running 5970's or GTX480's probably don't have a 19" monitor

Very true, forgot to throw that in there as well. I am running two 19'' monitors now (with a 17'' up top for chat and such), only thing I tried to run eyefinity with is Dirt 2 and obviously it looked like sh*t due to bezels but framerates didn't take that much of a bad turn...

Try turning "Post-Processing" on high, of course that will kill anything.

lol, i, like cmdr, joined the 3 monitors or more group lol, and turning everything on @ 1920x1200 for the 27"er (MSAA and AA really kill it with less then a gig of vram)
