Was hoping the high-end would have more than 2GB memory. Dunno about using Rambus memory though. My patience runs very thin for those bastards. |

I had a P3 "Coppermine" system back in the day that used 400MHz Rambus memory when most systems were using 100-133Mhz memory... sure the latencies were much higher negating some of this, and the P3's FSB seemed to be saturated by the memory bandwidth by this point anyways but it was still pretty cool to have. ![]() |

Good, they did go 3GB and are still using GDDR5, although from what i read XDR2 may be used for uber uber cards. Hopefully they got the fracking banding issue resolved cuz I really didn't want to see that DVI port on there anymore. Looks like it'll cost about 600$ after taxes. 3W idle is a lofty goal, very impressed. And Kepler isn't due for many months in the future. Looks like a winner.

Well when Steve-o was at my place he made a point, once the 7 series are out the 6 series should drop in price. I will nab one of those then. |

I don't think you'll see any price drops on 6-series cards until the 7950 and the mid range 7-series cards come out. I'll tell you what though, I'm pretty damn tempted to sell my 6970 and 5850 to get one of those 7970 cards! |

The 6950 is a sweet spot in terms of performance/price. Especially if you get one that will unlock to 6970 shaders. |

I think I'm ordering one on the 19th(Happy Birthday to me). Love to see some reviews on the 7950 beforte that, but probably won't. It would be sweet if they could be flashed to 7970. These things OC like mad. |

The 7950 looks like the big winner, much like th 6950 was. I'd get 2 in crossfire, come August when I'm done sailing, if AMD starts to give a darn. Otherwise, it'll still be a 7970 for a-me-ah! As well 7870, 7850, 7770 and others will be out by the end of the month as well. (prices are still estimates and whatnot, not slagging MB in any way) 7970 MSRP 550$ 7950 MSRP 450$ 7870 MSRP 300$ 7850 MSRP 250$ 7770 MSRP 150$ 7750 MSRP 140$ and once again, there are still gaps tween the 7950/7870 and 7850/7770...So i'm guessing eventually 7930 and 7830 "rubbish bin" versions ![]() |
