I'm in the same boat as far as loading issues into games/programs as well. It was high time I upgraded anyways finally into dual core lol. I'm using the 8800GT for my gaming rig & plan to use my left over gear for an HTPC/download machine for when I do get that 1080p.

Well I picked up my new gear today. I ended up getting the q6600. I figured the extra power won't hurt and I had the money to go for it. I also got the extra 250gig drive for RAID 0 and I bought the Antec Gamer Nine Hundred case plus two extra 120mm Vantec Stealth fans for the thing.

We recently bought a new computer desk that I'm not a big fan of and it has a front door that closes in my tower. When you open the door the system temp drops by around 5-6 degrees, but at the same time my current cooling sucks hard. Hopefully this will make some difference.

Oh yea . . and I got an LG 42" 1080p LCD tv. Couldn't beat the price vs the reviews for it this week.

If it's sitting inside a closed area, no amount of fans is going to make a difference as there is nowhere for them to send the heat to.

Sure fire way to shorten the lifespan of your gear......

The back of the desk is completely open but there was not much movement of air from the case to push the hot air out.

If this doesn't help as much as I want it to than I'm also going to add a fan inside the desk to blow the air out.
