this from Fudzilla:

"Four to eight cores from AMD in 2011

This is something we've already written about, as the first time we reported about this new socket was back in November 2009 here. This time around, however, we've got a confirmation that this is the way to go.

The new CPU uses a modified socket AM3 r2, and its still not clear if this socket is completely compatible with the existing AM3 socket. Something must have changed as AMD 990 chipset is also in the works, despite some early reports that AMD 890GX /GX chipsets will support the new Bulldozer core.

Let me remind you that Bulldozer is a highly anticipated 32nm quad or eight core (six should also be possible), 8MB L3 cache, DDR3 1866 support and the first CPU to come with this core is codenamed Zambezi.

The Zambezi CPU fits in Scorpius platform and it is all planned for some point in 2011, but we don't know which one as of yet."

I smell a new build with all new motherboard ram and cpu and a new case lol sniff sniff - yup lol

Well not itchin too bad, I am really happy with the 965BE and by current several month old build. Best motherboard, cpu, ram and video card combination I had to date for performance and overclock-ability.

So I am not really looking to upgrade cause the money I would spend wouldn't really change performance a whole hell of alot. So I want to see the new chipset and cpu in action and then decide if its worth it.

Before deciding any of that - I would like a much more roomier case. So I am passively looking for something decent. Silverstone has been catching my eye as of late - thanks to Steve-O's FT-02 post.

Jagerbomb!

Hopefully they won't be replacing the r2 very quickly, i'm going to buy one but i'm waiting a couple months to do it, just in case VERY BAD THINGS happen.

Apparently AMD and NV got together and will allow for SLI on new 990FX, X, and GX mobos.
http://blogs.nvidia.com/2011/04/you-asked-for-it-you-got-it-sli-for-amd/
Hopefully this is the start of allowing NV cards to run physx when an AMD card is present, without resorting to hackery.

Big win for AMD, since it shows that NV is desperate for more min^H^H market share.

that sucks bawls. By then there will be other cpu releases and more than likely this will end up being "behind the times".

Typical of AMD technology.

It's coming in 2 years and it's gonna be great.

***5 Years Later***

WTF is this?! It's like Phenom CPUs all over again!

Intel releases there next line up this fall. :P
They could probably launch around the same time as BD.
Not good for AMD at all.
