well as i am wanting to be untouched for a gaming rig i guess ill have to up the ante a bit

as it is now i am the only one around with a peltier setup, rite off the bat thats unique
also i will have the best computer around thats the whole point of me doing this

i dont care if i have to spend 10k to do so but i will and thats a fact have the best gamming rig AROUND

now if i have to get peltiers on all of my graphics cards and water blocks for them the happier ill be
i love negative temps :D

well if some one has 2 of the 280s already ill get 3
just to make it more interesting

this may sound pointless to alot of you guys
but its something i want to do because i am a gamer and i love computers

if i have to get custom gear build for me from nvida or asus or whatever then so be it

Go with 2X 4870...the cards are kicking arse...plus, if you wanted to, go with an E8400...i have very rarely heard of one not hitting 4ghz on AIR...just my 2 cents

Never did like ATi

i am gonna make a couple of calls to a few people about cards and what they can and cant do
on and off water and pelts

now if anyone knows the road i am going down send me a pm and as for over clocking i would love the help
i am only at 2.53 now and its sad lol

You are right considering that most applications use only dual core processing. Especially games. So the E8400 would be the ebst bang for the buck (what can I say I own 2 systems with them)

But to overclock them to 4 ghz on air it took me only 10 minutes to do it with stablity and another 10 minutes to quickly tweak the voltages. And thats only with a Zalman 8700 cooler.

If I had water I know I could do better but also I was pushing 1.450 v on my core at 445 fsb.

be aware that 45nm cpu's are higly voltage sensitive, meaning you can blow the shit out of them with electromigration without them even being warm. that being the case water and L2N are really pointless unless your intending to replace the cpu.

Just a note as long as you don't need to do HDMI, or anything other than ONE DVI-D input, get the 305T. I got the 275T+ becasue I have my cablebox plugged into it as well, and I like TV!

Image
Not worth the extra 400$!

Image
The inputs for a 275T(+), and component interface as well.

AND the 275T does PiP, but the PiP cannot be DVI or HDMI, which suxors oh well.

My setup (in case Clarke wants to be uber l33t and beat the shizzle out of everyone...)
Image
The 27" makes the 21" look tiny hehe! The Gateway is still is a super monitor, even 3 years down the road.

And yes! get the Velociraptor. Get 4, so you can RAID 1+0 em!
Image
oooh shiny!

I never had a voltage problem with the e8400. And trust me. I figured I would be one of the first doing so. Unless im lucky and for some miracle reason 1.750v didn't hurt it

Clarke get it to 4.6 ghz you can do it. Stable.

I wish i had that gear so I can get much more on mine =)

lol.

yeah you can def do better than 2.53. I know alot of people may hop on the nadwagon for this but i prefer asus over the gb boards for OC'ing. I really get better results.

I just know this because I run a gb board on my other 8400 and got crap for stability.

lol... Overclocking someone elses cpu  I could def get myself into some "smoking, poof" trouble lol!

I have been busy trying to create a Age of conan free server myself. Alot of time has been going into it. Althoguh i'm sure if project piston is still going they will beat me to the finish line. Damn their dev team.. So I am looknig for options to setup some gaming server. Will take recommendations =)

Perhaps a Mysterybye CS:S server, etc?

if u can blow that chip on that board with the peltier. ill pay to see that. u cant blow that proc. i put that proc thru some extreme conditions when i was over clocking. 6ghz 7 ghz blue screens liek crazy. voltage up to 1.55 1.6. im serious. this is the overclockers dream.
