OK, picked up the thermaltake big-water kit Denty was selling and he threw in the cracked CPU block. im gonna make a new top for it and was wondering what you all think. should i mill it out of acrylic or copper? pretty simple design, this also allows me to put standard 1/4" barbs on as the factory ones are really small.

the side the mates with the copper is perfectly flat and seals with the oring seen in the pics. this wont be used on mine or my wifes system , just for side wtf projects lol so doesnt have to be a pretty fix

Acrylic is notorious for leaking when capping something (don't tell me how i know this *puff*) Hard to cut it clean enough for a seal.I'd try to rig up some sort of rubber gasket type idea if i were to cap it myself.

lol Phonix - puff

The capt showed me a vid of the block with the crack, running under water - it was bubbling like crazy.

Normally if he gets piece of acrylic its already machined flat and he would only need cut out a 'squarish' piece using the cracked one as a template. The seal is already on the block so he should be ok as long as its bolted down firmly.

I suggested Acrylic for the see thru effect when running colored liquid.

All white tubing would be sick ;)

anyone know where to get a 3x3x1/2" block at?

(machining the Top is the easy part lol finding the acrylic cheaply locally is the hard part lol)

playing around with it some more, and if i press firmly in the center you can see the seal from the o-ring (for you that haven't seen one b4 it turns flat black and darker then the non sealed area. looks like as long as its bolted down the inner surface doesn't have to be 100% flat

so got some free acrylic from work (along with a crt touchscreen :P) and heres my new top!

First attempt was going perfect till the last screw hole, drill angled a bit :(

I know its rough, still need to sand down the edges, not bad for a overheating dremiel knockoff with a diamond wheel.

And here it is sitting on the block, water tested it and its sealed, just have to drill out the barb holes a bit bigger and tap that hole :P
