I heard they run pretty hot, I wont buy anything for it till it arrives but.. any ideas? I saw the Zalman VF1000... and that extra attachment mysterybyte has for underneath... but I'm looking at these others too... ZALMAN VF900-CU-LED VGA COOLER WITH LED and this one really looks.. neat.. ? But does it work.. Tt CL-G0102 DuOrb Heatpipe Dual Fan w/ Blue LED (NV8800/7900/7800/6800 / ATI X1950/1900/1800) and finally.. ZALMAN VF1000 LED VGA COOLER paired with Zalman ZM-RHS88 8800 Series Card Heatsink (Required for use with VF1000 and 8800 Series) I'm in a Full tower Armor series case w/ the big bitchin fan on the side. My 7900GTX never reached over 60c. But I heard the 2900XT's run especially hotter.. and I've never had an ATI card.. I plan on mild overclocking on air =3 P.S. If theres any other suggestions I'm not limited to just what MB has to offer, its just more convienent! Thanks EDIT: Oh also uhm.. Either I'm blind or I notice EVERYONE seems to be blue envious when it comes to PC stuff, blue lights, blue fans, blue this, blue that... any chance anyone knows where I can find green.... ?>.< |

The VF900 might not be up to the heat output of a 2900, presuming it even fits. I had one on my x1950Pro and it was MUCH better than the crap Sapphire cooler. Zalman usually has NON LED versions of their coolers, which is a good thing, considering how much I loath blue LED's, nothing like overdoing a single colour in the spectrum. True Green FTW! |

I don't really care.. How many people can say they gave their ram crabs ? huh ? Nobody that who.. unless you buy yourself a neon crab ^^; |

Let me just say from my experience that O/C'ing the 2900XT was a real bitch. The only program that worked was AMDOCTOOL 0.7 (when i actually had the card, damn 2 month RMA time). I could get about a 50MHz overclock, maybe. Even the AMD tool was buggy and sometimes even just froze clocking to stock speeds. The Overdrive panel never worked right. I had to manually clock the card to stock due to the fact I run dual monitors (XP Pro) and like playing games in full screen windowed (ok "GAME" WoW lolz I'm lame). Full screen windowed games do not count as 3d applications (maybe they do now 6 months later) and thusly the card will always stay at the 20% slower 2d speed. The 2900XT by far was quiet until it heated up. I never saw it go above 64C, even in the summer. But when that fan went WHIRRRRR it was by far the loudest component and you could tell it was going off. Much louder than the 1900XT I had before (or the 1800XL, 800XL, 8500 before that ha!) |
