I know most people are going to be too busy playing Battlefield 3 to bother with this but for those who care: Minimum Specs Windows 7/Vista/XP PC (32 or 64 bit) Processor: Dual Core 2.0GHz or equivalent processor 2GB System RAM 6GB free HDD Space Direct X 9 compliant video card with 512 MB of RAM DirectX compatible sound card Internet access for Steam activation Recommended Specs Windows 7/Vista/XP PC (32 or 64 bit) Processor: Quad-core Intel or AMD CPU 4GB System RAM 6GB free HDD space DirectX 9 compatible NVIDIA or AMD ATI video card with 1GB of RAM (Nvidia GeForce GTX 260 or higher; ATI Radeon 4890 or higher). DirectX compatible sound card Internet access for Steam activation With the Recommended Specs that should play the game on High but Ultra will require more. I personally fall somewhere in between the Minimum and Recommended. I'll probably see how it plays before upgrading anything but that's not bad for a system that's 3 years old and I only put $600 in to. |

Im guessing if you could run Oblivion/Fallout at max settings comfortably then Skyrim will run fine as well, since it's the same engine with upgraded shaders and textures. |

Ya, I heard that as well, which is good because Oblivion and Fallout both ran fine for me. Not maxed settings but I think High and at a decent frame rate. |

Not sure how many people here are playing this game but I'm liking it so far. I was a big fan of Morrowind, and I thought Oblivion let it down in a lot of ways, but this game seems to take the improvements and also go back to what made Morrowind better. The UI is still a bit "consoley" but it's much much better than Oblivion, and the dungeons/caves actually look unique again like Morrowind. The crafting bits all seem well done, which again was giong back to Morrowind, but the gameplay improvements made in Oblivion are all there as well with additions. I'm currently running Medium settings, not sure of the frame rate but it's definitely smooth enough, with the following specs: - Core 2 Duo @ 2.5GHz-ish - GeForce 9600GT OC 512MB (700/... uhh... whatever the other value is when bound... 1675???/1020) - 2GB DDR2 @ 920MHz So I'm putting the upgrading off yet again this year until the spring because I still haven't had a need really. :-\ I guess it's good for my bank account but it's not as fun. |

I built that system back when I was still playing WoW (its been a while now) and I just never needed anything faster yet. The last few computer games I've played are like Torchlight, Mass Effect 1 & 2, Civilization 5, Portal, and now Skyrim and it runs everything fine so I just can't really justify it yet. I have been playing a lot of PS3 games though in the past two years but the next computer game I get after this will hopefully be Diablo 3, and chances are I won't need to upgrade again really. In the end I think it's the consoles that I have to blame/thank for my current PC because games are plateauing in requirements around what those systems can handle and PC games aren't scaling as fast as they could because of it. But yes, you have it better off than me man. ![]() |

Well, to be honest Grizz, both of those titles are better left for PC. I recommend anyone with a PC to get Skyrim for it instead of console. The difference is absolutely stunning, plus the addition of user mods and tweaks make the game play/look even better. Put it this way, I started playing Skyrim on 360, got bored because of the blandness of textures and such. I then pirated (onoez) a copy for PC and let me tell you, it will NEVER be played on my 360 again. |
