Hey Skiman..

Yeah finally came together.(thanks again) I was pretty happy to get it up and running and Windows 7 64-bit RTM installed. A few customizations to the desktop later ( one I can't show on the forum lol ) and I was looking on my flash drive - had some 64-bit AV but I dont think its compatible with win 7.

Not a huge fan of AVG. How is it on resources and does it have a good definition database now? I have fixed more than my share of pc's loaded with viruses when avg said it was clean. So a little skeptical but willing to give it a go. Better to have something on it than nothing.

Rather than start a new thread about paint, figured I would just use this one.

I wanted to repaint my 2nd pc. Topsecret seen it the other day, the case is truly solid, but has quite a few cosmetic only , scratches.

Its been suggested to be that I use Krylon Fusion Paint. Anyone here in the forums used it?

Just looked it up to make sure. I been through a few dozen cans of it in my day. Really good stuff to use.

May have a half dozen cans at my fathers garage still although they may be a few years old.

well I'm glad someone here has experience with it, apparently its suggested for pc painting as it doesn't crack or peel. Thanks Top!

So, I am thinking, light sanding to smooth things out with a high grit paper, then base coat, several coats of color then clear coat it a few times. Sound simple? its not lol

I was looking at the color names available. The selection isn't very big at all but I am sure I will find something. I will head to crappy tire on fri (tomorrow) and check out the colors.

Dont forget Bondo and primer. Bondo will help you get those scratches (depending on how deep) and dents out.

well the scratches are mild but noticable. Primer definately. Theres also a few more things I am going to need to make the paint job decent.

Also, I am going the door/side panel first to see how it turns out. Then, wet sand it with several grits of sandpaper after the paint is dried very well ( week or two later )

That should give the paint one mean shine. Then when thats done, clearcoat.

Sounds like a plan. Take your time, sand down the the finest grit you can get and never forget the clearcoat.

Well I went to Canadian Tire, picked up some 800 and 1500 Grit wet/dry sandpaper, some tack cloth, a can of generic grey primer and some Krylon Fusion spray paint.

A light sanding, then remove dust, then several coats of primer with time in between coats. Then, some more sanding to get out any floaties and what not then several more coats.

Then a few coats of the krylon, a good wet sand or two later, then a few more coats. Heres a photo of the door primed and ready to pain the krylon - then another photo of the krylon and waiting to dry for a wet sand a few more coats.

Watch as much "Chop Cut Rebuild" on SpeedTV as you can. I've seen all sorts of neat stuff regarding painting and I'm sure it's all quite applicable for these purposes as well.

Well pretty much sanded and used darn near a full can of paint on the door.

Several wet sands and coats later, I am pretty happy with it now.

Its going to be put aside tonight to cure - then tomorrow check for anything noticable sand and paint again if needed, then several shots of clearcoat.

Also formulating what I am going to do with the rest of the case. Thinking mainly blue with black accents. Got a few ideas for the font door etc. See how it goes.

File comment: nearly done - before the inspection, touchups if needed and clear coating.

I also hope that the couple threads in here gets some people into the modding. Got an older case? why not try something retarded?

It was suggested that I do this case pink...I also shouldnt say what was going to be put on the side panel lol
