True, we are somewhat spoiled when it comes to fuel cause we remember it being so much cheaper years ago. But we dont mind paying 2 bucks sometimes for a 500ml of water when all we gotta do is turn on a tap.

what bugs me (ok this is on the watse of palstic) like lets say i go to shoppers and all im buying is a small can of lets say shaving cream. the cashier automatically puts it in a bag, i don't like that. they should always ask you if you want a bag, and smack you if you have nothing else to carry in your hands

what bugs me are the places that charge money for their bags. if i need them i'm going to use them. why engage in the cash grab? it's not going to make me stop using plastic bags. it's just going to make my trip to the store needlessly more expensive.

Nothing beats the day at The Source when I bought a whole boat load of stuff. Monitors, odds and ends, cables, etc. I paid like $800 altogether for it. Then the clerk puts it all on the counter and is like "Would you like to buy a bag as well?" I'm thinking he means one of those fancy cloth bags, to which I decline.

Well, then he just walked away and helped another customer while I was left staring at $800 of gear piled on his counter, like I could have carried it all out on my own.

Long story short, I STILL didn't buy a bag, I went out to the car and robbed some sobeys bags.

Those reusable bags (especially the Sobeys ones) are great for groceries. Seriously for 99 cents they make carrying groceries so much easier that I should have been using them much earlier than I had. With that said in the rare occasions I do need a bag I always make sure to reuse it later for garbage or something and paying the 5 cents doesn't really matter much to me. I think it's just enough of a nudge to get people to think about getting the reusable bags and that's fine by me but seriously... get the Sobey's ones if you do. There much better than the Superstore bags. :)

i have no problem with paying for those enviro-bags. i have a few myself that i keep forgetting about.
5 cents per plastic bad isn't that much, yes. but it's still an extra charge i shouldn't haev to pay as it won't actually make people stop using them. it's the whole concept of being "neckel and dimed to death" in this case quite literally. haha

Well I can honestly say I hate being nickel and dimed for things (hence not owning a cell phone! *badum ching!*) but I'm pretty impartial to this as it does put a thought in the back of people's mind that may cause a few more to switch over. With that said, I'm never above the plight of the common man/Monkeydee and feel your pain as well when I forget my bags. :)

all of us get nickel and dimed to death. some of us draw the line. Its a piss off no doubt about it and causes some people to change habits - which in most cases is a very good thing.

hmm pay 5 cents per bag or buy some from the same place lol

screw em I bring my own. I am not cheap even tho it would seem, I just dont like throwing away money where obviously possible. Another is with power, I unplug or switch power bars off at night when things arent being used. Nickel and dimed there too.

Banks charging us for taking money from our own acct, etc etc etc list goes on.

Sad thing is, if enough people changed, they would all find a way to get the revenue - more than likely upping prices on basic need items. Hard to win unless you go off the grid and live in a cabin growing your own food living as a hermit and stealing wireless internet LOL

On the plus side the reusable bags are only like 99 cents at Sobeys, and probably quite similar at Superstore. I don't think there's much profit margins to be had at that price so if you don't already own something usable then you aren't really getting "taken" by having to get a few.
